Reta Schaap
Chair, Governance Chair

Reta has a B.Sc. degree from Illinois State University, and a Ms. Ed., graduation from Governors State University, Illinois. She has extensive experience within educational teaching, administrative and consulting capacities. A considerable portion of her background has been focused on “at risk schools, and families”. Several of Reta’s strengths are her organizational skills as well as problem solving capabilities, both of which she has utilized in various situations throughout her career. Reta serves on the Service Committee of her church and coordinates the Back Pack Buddies Program for several schools in Georgetown County. Reta and her husband Larry have lived in the Pawley’s Island area and have two children Megan and Ryan. They also have two grandchildren.
Fedrick D. Cohens

Fedrick is the Principal of Kensington Elementary School in Georgetown. A native of Georgetown County, Fedrick earned a BA in Elementary Education from Coastal Carolina University and a M. Ed from The Citadel. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctorate in Education. Grant writing is one of Fedrick’s specialties. He has been successful in assisting several local civic and faith-based organizations with his proposals. Fedrick finds time to serve his church, Greater St. Paul’s AME, in various capacities: Youth Advisor, Trustee, and Sunday School Teacher. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and numerous professional organizations. Fedrick has been recognized professionally a number of times including Georgetown County First Year Teacher of the Year 1999-2000, and Georgetown County Distinguished Reading Teacher in 2003. Fedrick’s colleagues describe him as “highly professional, dedicated, and genuinely interested in the students.” He resides in Georgetown.
Myrtle Milton

Myrtle is the Director of Support Staff Personnel and Employee Programs for Georgetown County School District. A native of Georgetown County, with a B.S. Degree in Business Management and a Masters in Business Administration from Kaplan University, she brings more than 19 years of Human Resources experience to the Board. Myrtle is the mother of two teenaged daughters. She is an event planner, certified tax preparer and owner and founder of CHARM (Character, Honesty and Respect Matters) Mentoring. Myrtle has been successful in planning and organizing a variety of events to encourage and motivate teen girls. She is the recipient of numerous awards to include, 2009 Support Staff of the Year for Georgetown County School District Office. She is an active and dedicated member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she serves as Youth Director, VBS Director, Junior Missionary President and Women's Conference Chairperson.

Anne and her husband Larry recently moved here from Lexington, Kentucky. Anne has a M.A. in Special Education from the University of Kentucky and a B.A. in Elementary and Special Education from Coker College, in Hartsville, S.C. She also has a certification Diploma from St. Nicholas Montessori of the University of Kentucky. In addition, she is also certified by the Kentucky Department of Education in Special Education for the following: Educable Mentally Handicapped Grades 1-12, Orthopedically Handicapped Grades 1-12, and Trainable Handicapped Grades 1-12. She has served as a board member and officer of several civic organizations. She has a married daughter.

Teresa Peterson

After graduating from UNC-Greensboro with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 1974, Teresa taught in Marine Corps Dependents Schools at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Laurel Bay, South Carolina. In 1978, she earned a M. Ed. In Reading and Language Arts from UNC-Chapel Hill. Since that time, Teresa has had a variety of experiences related to children and literacy including classroom teacher, reading resource coordinator, curriculum specialist, educational consultant, private tutor, adjunct instructor at UNC-Pembroke, and school administrator at Southeastern Academy (Lumberton, NC). Teresa originated several volunteer initiatives: “I’m Beary Special” (recognized by the North Carolina PTA as an exemplary program) and the Academic Booster Club at Lumberton High School. She continued her volunteer activities on the Board of Community Concerts of Robeson County, the Board of Good Friends of Georgetown County, the MUSC Children’s Hospital Advisory Board, the Prince George Community HOA, Lowcountry Preparatory School Board, as well as a Board Member and Education Mentor for Miss Ruby’s Kids. Teresa’s passion for improving the lives of children also led her to become a certified parent education facilitator. She and her husband, Pete, live on the Waccamaw Neck and own Peterson Toyota Chrysler Jeep and Doge in Lumberton, North Carolina. They have two sons and four granddaughters.
Rob Ruark

Rob earned a B. S. in Business Administration from Mars Hill College and an M.L.A. from Winthrop University. He began his career as a banker then was a fundraiser for his alma maters, a residential treatment center for children and a four hospital medical system. He retired in 2010 as the Executive Director of the AnMed Health Foundation. Since moving to Pawley’s Island he has served on the Holy Cross Faith Memorial’s vestry and the Smith Medical Clinic board. He is married to Susan, a retired accountant and they have two married children and three grandchildren.
Jeff Siegrist

Jeff Siegrist, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, is a University of Tennessee graduate with a degree in Accounting. After college, Jeff worked in public accounting and tax consulting with two large national public accounting firms. During this time, he attained both CPA and CFP certifications. It was also during this time that Jeff made a connection with a well-established executive recruiter for the Forest Products Industry. He worked initially as a tax and financial adviser for this business, and then in 1985 Jeff agreed to join the firm as an “apprentice” to learn the executive search business and the Forest Products Industry. Initially, Jeff’s client focus was on the large fully integrated Pulp & Paper companies. As the Forest Products Industry consolidated in the 1990’s and assets were redistributed, Jeff’s practice began to focus on the timberland and solid wood manufacturing sectors. Also, in the mid 1990’s Jeff and his family relocated to South Carolina where Jeff completed an MBA at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Susan E. Tonzola

Sue, a Human Resources professional, retired from CIGNA Healthcare after 18 years. She began her career in northern New Jersey, supporting the northeast region. She transferred to Charleston, SC and later to Raleigh, NC supporting the acquisition of Healthsource to CIGNA. In addition to strong customer service skills, her experience includes employee relations, retention, talent search and succession planning. She worked on salary and benefits analyses in acquisitions in South Dakota, NJ, NC & SC. Sue is married to Tony Tonzola, a small business owner of home remodeling. She is the mother of 2 adult sons and is the proud grandmother of 4. She is active in Wachesaw Plantation Club activities, Miss Ruby’s Kids Garden Party, and co-chair of the auction committee for PIFMA’s wine festival.
